Canadian avens (Geum canadense), also known as white avens or is a herbaceous perennial plant native to North America. It is a member of the rose family (Rosaceae) and is commonly found in open fields, meadows, and along forest edges.
The plant grows up to 90 cm tall and has deeply lobed leaves with toothed edges. Its flowers are small white flowers bloom from late spring to early summer. The flowers are followed by seed heads with long, curved styles that resemble the beak of a bird, giving the plant its common name of avens.
It is an easy to grow plant, that is great for partially shaded areas or full sun.
