Elymus trachycaulus (Fr: élyme à chaumes rudes | En: slender wildrye)

Description:

This bunchgrass is somewhat common in rock and sand barrens which its characteristic long and slender tops. There are two varieties of this species, one with awns (bristles at the end of the seed) named var. secundus and one without named var. trachycaulus.

An excellent choice to plant in meadow gardens, particularly in drier sunny places. 

Height: 1 meter to 1.5 meters

Sun: full sun to part shade

Moisture: dry to moderate

Soil: poor rocky soils, sandy soils
