Alternative names: brome hummock sedge
French: carex faux-brome
Brome-like Sedge is a low-growing, clumping sedge with vibrant green foliage and attractive golden spikelets. Its naturally short stature makes it stand out among moisture-loving plants, making it a perfect choice for natural lawns, wet corners of the yard, or rain gardens.
Unlike many sedges that grow tall or floppy, this species stays neat and low, making it a low-maintenance, mow-free groundcover that blends well into both naturalized and ornamental landscapes.
It thrives in moist to wet soils, and grows well in sun or shade, making it versatile for both open and wooded sites. It’s particularly well-suited to wet meadows, streambanks, marshy edges, and shaded garden patches.
